Schedule starting to come together

NU will play Purdue and Ohio State just once; everyone else will be a home-and-home. obviously it's huge to get Purdue one time and in Evanston. OSU figures to be a top 3/4 team in the conference too, so that helps.

Shurna gets a gold medal

although he didn't get off the bench much in the final game, John Shurna has to feel good about this tournament.  today the USA finished their 9-0 run to the championship with a win over Greece.  although Shurna only averaged 12.2 mpg, he finished 5th in rpg on the team, and his numbers translate to 12.7 rebounds per 40 minutes.

and that's good, because NU will need those rebounds if Kyle Rowley plays like he did this summer for Trinidad and Tobago, he won't be much help.  T&T finshed out of the medals and there was very little, if any, mention of Rowley's contributions.

Ricky Byrdsong

several Medill students put together a thorough piece on the life of Ricky Byrdsong, who was murdered ten years ago today. they make no mention of him sitting in the stands during his first year, that wild season that ended in the NIT.
