post-season update

even though the cats finished at 6-10 in the conference at least we can now look back at their schedule and say they had some really good teams on there. oh wait, the big ten failed to get a team to the second weekend of the dance and even penn state got rolled at home in the NIT. which makes our failures even more pathetic, if that's possible.

carmody's curse

apparently NU's suckiness is contagious. the wildcats this season defeated three ncaa-tournament teams- seton hall, wisconsin, iowa. all three lost in the first round. further evidence that if you lose a game to frenchy and the boys, your team is pretty much garbage.

sadly, this is as good as it gets

well bill, i'm not impressed. tj parker walked last summer, michael thompson turned out to be a much bigger puss than i could ever dream (and believe me, i thought he was a HUGE pansy before he quit the team), your best player wore down as the season came to a close, and you singlehandedly gave penn state basketball fans reason to be hopeful for the future.

and according to the chicago tribune, things are only going down from here. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/cs-060308nu,1,3530826.story?coll=cs-college-headlines

pretty soon you'll be running scared back to your precious ivy league and its non-postseason conference tournament bullshit. you better get out there and recruit your effing ass off, because the clock is ticking and your time is running out.

from phila daily news

When free agency finally starts tomorrow or Saturday, look for the Eagles to announce more signings, probably including quarterback Jeff Garcia.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha

wah wah wah

first ever in-game blog entry. they're down by 17 against psu. the only thing surprising about that is that vegas had NU favored by 2.5.

update- now down by 23 with about 4 minutes left. this is from Rory Brunner's gamelog on cbs sportsline:

"2nd Half - 5:34
Northwestern chucks up another airball. That's gotta be at least 7 or 8 on the game. More than I remember ever seeing in a college basketball game, let alone the Big Ten."

he can't recruit, and he's not a good game coach either

After Lewis's basket gave the Buckeyes a 54-53 lead, Northwestern freshman guard Sterling Williams raced down the court, pulled up and tried to pass to center Vince Scott, but the ball never got there.

Carmody said he should have called a timeout to set up a play. "Seven out of 10 times in that situation I call a timeout," Carmody said. "I take the responsibility for that. I saw transition and that is his strength."

Northwestern fouled Lewis and he missed the free throw to give Northwestern one last chance with 1.3 seconds left. This time, Carmody used three timeouts to set up a three-quarters court pass from Tim Doyle to Vedran Vukusic. But it sailed into the Northwestern bench as Vukusic lunged for it.

there's really nothing i can add.
